Ymca stands for youth8/31/2023 To fulfill our Mission and purpose of strengthening our community for all, the YMCA of the Triangle is committed to being a multicultural, anti-racist and inclusive organization, fully leveraging our collective resources and impact to address social inequities. Their mission is to provide leadership and support for children and young adults who are working to build a better future. It is a non-profit organization that helps children and young adults in deep water. OUR DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION STATEMENT The YMCA stands for Youth Ministry Association. Together, we work to ensure that everyone, has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity at our YMCA. The first YWCA was established in England in 1855, when two groups met to aid women: one group formed a Prayer Union to pray for women, and the other founded Christian homes for young women. In that Christian principles are caring and inclusive, we are respectful of various expressions of faith and serve families and individuals from all traditions, backgrounds and perspectives. YMCA stands for Young Mens Christian Association, where it used to be a type of shelter and housing for needy men at the time where it could provide a room. The YMCA is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by empowering young people, improving the health and well-being of people of all ages and inspiring action in and across communities. The YWCA and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) are completely independent organizations. Amber and her team from YMCA of Greater Richmond met with peers from across the world to discuss community issues and develop solutions. In August 2019, the YMCA celebrated 175 years of youth-led change with a global gathering in London. Our Mission compels us to embrace, reflect and celebrate the richness of diversity within each other and the many communities we serve. Were Young Leaders Trying to Change the World. Our Mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. We're committed to nurturing the potential of children through Youth Development, improving the nation’s health and well-being by promoting Healthy Living, and fostering a sense of Social Responsibility by providing opportunities to give back and support neighbors. This non-profit organization is a national and international organization dedicated to empowering youth and bettering community well-being. The YMCA of the Triangle is a 501(c)3 nonprofit governed by a local board of volunteer directors. Brief YMCA History The National Council of YMCAs of Jamaica was inaugurated during a District Conference of the Y’s Men’s Club held in St. According to Britannica, YMCA stands for Young Men’s Christian Association. We serve people from all walks of life in the Triangle area through YMCA memberships and programs. We’re proud of our diverse community and are passionate about being a positive force for good. Sports and recreation at the Y create a healthy outlet for children to gain new skills, learn to work as a team and connect with positive role models all in an inclusive environment. For 165 years, the YMCA of the Triangle has strengthened the very foundations of the community we serve. Our sports staff, coaches and volunteers encourage children to reach their full potential.
